Chair, Part A MFPH Examiners
Job description:
Accountable to the Academic Registrar and Head of Education and Training in helping to deliver objectives set out in the FPH Business plan and FPH Education Committee Business plan. Will work closely with Deputy, Part A examiners and ensure communication links are made with the OSPHE Executive Committee.

Main duties:

Advise the FPH Academic Registrar and FPH Education Committee on matters relating to the MFPH Part A examination:-
- Provide regular reports to the Education Committee (and other FPH Committees as required);
- Provide statistical data on each sitting of the Part A examination;
- Recommend nominations for Part A Examiners to the Education Committee;
- Advise on the training, suspension and removal of examiners.

Chair and lead the decisions of the Part A Examiners Group in the following tasks:-
- Set and approve the examination paper in collaboration with the examiners and Education Office;
- Check drafts of the examination paper and Key Points;
- Deal with problems/enquiries concerning questions set for the examination paper from stakeholders, other institutions or academic departments;
- Liaise with examiners to agree provisional marks;
- Check the spreadsheet of examiners’ marks with the Education Office;
- Sign result letters to candidates who took the Part A examination;
- Approve feedback and corrections/ amendments as proposed by examiners;
- Oversee the administration process, assessment forms etc. used;
- Provide advice and support to candidates, examiners etc.;
- Provide backup, if required by the Education Office, for example when examiners do not meet deadlines;
- Chair Part A examiners’ meetings (minimum 3 annually);
- Assist in setting agenda and papers for Part A Examiner meetings with Education Office;
- Check and approve draft of minutes taken by Education Office of Part A Examiner meetings;
- Liaise with Education Office to set examination schedule;
- Liaise with FPH Academic Registrar and the Part B Chair.

Participate as a member of the Part A Examinations Development Group, with the following remit:-
- Take forward development of the examination in collaboration with the project lead, Academic Registrar and Education Committee;
- Ensure the standard of the MFPH Part A examination is maintained in line with FPH and PMETB standards;
- Annually review the examination process and syllabus in collaboration with examiners and the Academic Registrar, and make any appropriate recommendations;
- To ensure that the regulations and policies of the MFPH Part A are in line and conform with national policies, e.g. DDA.
Person specification:
Essential:
- MFPH/FFPH/Hon. Member for at least three years;
- Has experience of being a Part A/Diploma & Part I Examiner;
- Has held a consultant or equivalent post for at least three years;
- Has good knowledge of the content of the Part A syllabus and expert knowledge in at least one area.
- Must be well organised, have strong leadership skills and work well with a wide range of organisations and disciplines.
- Must be up to date with CPD and annual audit requirement.
Desirable:
- Has experience of teaching and examining in a relevant field.
- Has experience of setting and managing examinations.
