Associate category (individual or corporate)
Who is eligible for the Associate category?
People working in public health, or related fields, who wish to receive regular information on the specialty and be linked with the Faculty, but who do not qualify for membership or do not wish to become members, may become Associates.
Associates are not Faculty members and are not entitled to any privileges of membership including the right to vote in Faculty elections, stand for committee membership or use any designatory letters.

- Faculty mailings (excluding election mailings)
- copies of our quarterly newsletter, ph.com
- access to the Faculty's electronic Network Groups
- information on public health related conferences and events
- the opportunity to attend the Faculty's Annual Conference
- access to the Faculty's Continuing Professional Development scheme (standard fee)
Organisations wishing to become Corporate Associates will receive the same benefits as an Individual Associate, but shared throughout the organisation.
Individuals who wish to apply for the Associate Category should:
- have an interest in public health
- have their application supported by a member of the Faculty in good standing
- at no time have held membership of the Faculty — with the exception of those who have been Specialist Registrars or Specialist Trainee Members who resigned without having passed the Part A examination
Organisations that wish to apply for the Associate category must be one of the following:
- an NHS trust or primary care organisation
- a university or college
- a local authority
Please note:
- The Faculty reserves the right to refuse admission of any individual or organisation to the Associate category
- Associates are NOT Members of the Faculty and may not claim Associateship as a qualification or use post-nominal or designatory letters
The application process
Applicants should fill out the Associate application form [pdf] and forward it to the Membership Records Department at the Faculty, along with the necessary fee.
