Alwyn Smith Prize
This prize is endowed by Professor Alwyn Smith on his retirement as President of the Faculty in 1986. A medal and certificate are normally awarded annually to the member or fellow of the Faculty, judged to have made the most outstanding contribution to the health of the public by either research or practice in community medicine (public health medicine).
The prize is awarded at the discretion of the current Faculty President.

Cochrane Prize
In honour of the first President of the Faculty, the late Professor
Archie Cochrane, a medal and cheque are normally awarded each year to
an undergraduate student to support an educational activity in the field
of public health medicine.

June and Sidney Crown Award
Dr June Crown, immediate past President of the Faculty, and her husband, Dr Sidney Crown, endowed an annual award starting in 1999 whose purpose is to assist young members of the Faculty (particularly those working within the National Health Service) to gain experience or further training outside the United Kingdom.

The McEwen Award
The prize is awarded for the best performance in the Part B MFPH examination
of the Faculty of Public Health of the Royal Colleges of Physicians
of the United Kingdom.
All candidates who have passed the whole of the Part B MFPH Examination
(UK) at sittings held in the 12 months preceding the last Education
Committee meeting before the Faculty's Annual General Meeting will be
eligible for consideration.
Eligibility for the competition will be restricted to those recognised
as Specialist Registrar/Specialist Trainee Members in PHM/PH on the
date of the submission of Part B of the Examination for Membership
of the FPH.

Littlejohn Gairdner Prize
This prize was instituted by Dorothy Hedderwick to commemorate the
centenary of the appointment of her father, Sir Henry Duncan Littlejohn,
as Medical Officer for the City of Edinburgh, and of his friend, Sir
William Tennant Gairdner, as Medical Officer of Health for the City
of Glasgow.
A medal and cheque are normally awarded annually to a specialist registrar
Member in Scotland who passes their Part B MFPH for the first time, with
no amendments or resubmissions, on the recommendation of an adjudication
committee.
